Dye

... and then, we used the second half of our cabbage to dye a piece of white cotton (the project was a new summer shirt for Elsa). After gentle cooking in the cabbage decoction, it turned into a nice shade of pale blue we both liked... Yet, after the first wash, the colour faded away, back into pure white. I guess I should have used some kind of fixative (I used salt though). Anybody knows ?

Inspired by  Alliot and Iza, we’ve been playing with cabbage juice. Playing with lemon juice and baking soda, turning purple to geenish blue (alkali), purple to reddish pink  (acid), and back. You can use cabbage juice or decoction, play with fruit juices, vinegar, .... Have fun!
